My name is Nick. I am a husband, runner, social worker, and gratefully in recovery. I like to run long distances in places I find beautiful and push the limit of what I find possible for myself physically, mentally, and emotionally. At one point I worked in the outdoor professionally in both guiding and wilderness therapy, but now I work full time in the mental health field and find my approach to the world constantly being informed by the insights I garner from the outdoors.

I decided to start putting this blog together for a number of reasons. Most notably to share my own expierence with addiction, the knowledge I have in the field of mental health, and how that relates to my journey with running and fitness. I hope the insights here can help someone else out who feels stuck, in a funk, or just get inspired to get out and tap into the amazing world we all share.

I also tend to race, and train a fair amount and wanted to share those adventures as well in a format that suits my long winded nature.
